It's big, it's lidded, and, because I figure the stuff going into it will get pretty heavy, it's got wheels. I wrote "The Tinker Box" on it so that it would look more fun and mysterious than the other, regular storage boxes in the garage. So what's in there so far?

Old DVR, old coffee maker, a broken barometer, and some bits of hardware in an envelope.
Right now the Bud is too young to do much tinkering, but I figure that if we start putting broken mechanical and electronic devices (along with extra hardware and scraps) in there now, he should have a good amount to play with, take apart, and explore by the time he's old enough to handle a screwdriver and a power drill.

Don't forget the safety glasses. Never to young to learn good safety routines... I make the midget wear 'em whenever I cook bacon.
Of course there is something a bit creepy about having a little mad scientist running around the place...
Everytime I go to the thrift shop my 9 year old future mechanical engineer calls out, "Can you find me something to take apart?" Clocks, vacuum cleaners, boom boxes... "Look! Inside here is a huge magnet, let me look it up in How Things Work."
